Zinc and copper

What it is
Zinc supports skin, hair and nail structure and immune function. Copper is a trace mineral your body needs in much smaller amounts.
Why it is in ONCE DUSK
These two belong together and that is not optional. Long term zinc supplementation without copper depletes copper, because they compete for the same absorption pathway. A zinc supplement with no copper in it is a slow problem.
Why this dose
11 mg of zinc balanced 11 to 1 with 1 mg of copper. The ratio is the point. Plenty of hair and nail products carry zinc alone at higher doses, which over months is actively worse than carrying less.
Both chelated. The 11:1 ratio is mandatory.
How it works with the rest of the formula
Zinc and biotin both work on the structural proteins in hair and nails, and copper is there to keep the zinc honest. This is the clearest example in the formula of an ingredient included not for what it does on its own but for what it prevents another ingredient from doing.
What to look for on any label
If a hair or nail product contains zinc and no copper, that is the finding. It is not a dealbreaker for occasional use, but taken nightly for months it works against you. Look for chelated forms, which absorb better than oxides and sulphates, and check that the zinc number is a sensible daily amount rather than a therapeutic one.
Zinc is one of the easier minerals to overdo. 11 mg is a supportive daily amount, not a therapeutic megadose, and it is deliberately paired.
